Clinical Reformer Pilates Classes

We are delighted to be able to offer Clinical Reformer Pilates from goPilates in Chandlers Ford. Having run specialist Clinical mat Pilates classes for over 10 years, with such a fantastic space from which we can offer classes and a wonderful team of clinically trained Pilates Instructors, expanding to offer Reformer Pilates is an exciting move for us and our clients.

We’ve invested in the best equipment available, and from our dedicated studio space offer both a timetable of Reformer classes and the option of 1-2-1 sessions. All our Instructors are Physio’s or Rehab specialists, giving that unique clinical edge to your Pilates.

What does Reformer Pilates involve?

All of our Reformer Pilates sessions at goPhysio are ‘Clinical’ Reformer Pilates.

This gives our Pilates service a unique edge, as the power of Pilates is combined with expert knowledge and experience that all of our Clinical Instructors have, in how the body works, movement science, injury and recovery. All of our Instructors are graduate Physiotherapists or Sports & Rehabilitation Therapists, who have completed extensive Pilates training with World leaders in clinical Pilates, the APPI.

You will always need to start with some 1-2-1 Reformer sessions. This is essential, so you are familiar with the Reformer equipment, some of the key exercises, can use the equipment safetly and can get the most from Reformer Pilates sessions. Some people continue with 1-2-1, whilst others may join one of our small Reformer classes.

During any of our Reformer Pilates sessions, you will work through a series of exercises on the Reformer bed.

Using the pulleys, straps and springs, your Instructor will vary the exercises, adding more challenge or a little more support. You can do exercises in sitting, lying, kneeling and even standing!

All of our sessons are progressive and encourage you to develop at your own pace.

Our small classes have a maximum of 5 participants, so you always have close supervision and guidance when you need it to help make sure you get the most from the classes.

FAQs

How does Reformer differ from Mat Pilates?

The Reformer is a specilaist piece of equipment, based around a solid platform with pulleys and springs. This adds both challenge and support, so can be used to mkae the exercises easier or harder. You can do Pilates exercises on the Reformer in lying, sitting, kneeling and even standing!

I'm not sure whether to do mat or Reformer?

It’s really personal choice, some people much prefer mat others Reformer! Using the Reformer equipment as part of your Pilates does provide much more variety and some say is a little more challening. However, the Reformer can also be used very effectively to make Pilates exercises easier and is great for those who struggle to get on and off the floor, as the bed is raised.

Why do I need to have 1-2-1 Reformer sessions before I start a class?

The Reformer bed has lot’s of moving and working parts, that all have a role to play in your Pilates. And so do you! It is essential that we can screen you for any injuries or particularly weak areas, find out exactly what you want to achieve by coming to Pilates and teach you the basics before you start. It is also crucial you know how to use the equipment safely, as you will neeed to be able to adjust the Reformer as part of the class yourself.

Testimonials

I attend the Pilates class weekly and have found it extremely beneficial to strengthen my body after having children. The classes are small and the instructor will help adapt exercises on a personal level if needed. I love the online booking system which means I can rebook my Pilates session for another time during the week if I’m away.
